Radicalization

Corporate lobbying. Special Interest Goals. Complicity.
“Our society needs to become less fragmented and more open to alternative viewpoints”-Susan Collins, R-ME.
I have grown to despise this ideology. Throughout our government and society, politicians commonly espouse the need to work together and compromise morals in order to satisfy opponents, constituents, and special interests to pass legislation. Yet, this watered down and weak legislation is fatally flawed. This complicity on humanitarian and environmental policy is fatal.
Have I become radicalized? By denotative measures I am, yet it is the connotation of the term “radical” that triggers people into thinking I am either a believer of soviet era socialism, or anarchy, or a user of weapons/twisted religion to achieve my goals.
Far from it.
I have become radical in thinking that I believe everyone should be able to have clean air and water, healthcare should be affordable and accessible to all, you shouldn’t have to owe tens of thousands to get a college degree, people should not be shot because of the color of their skin and guns should not be readily available, markets should be competitive and not monopolized, the list goes on. Most importantly, I acknowledge my privilege and try to make society truly equitable, as Jesus taught me.
Or has society become radicalized on the accumulation of money and power that they have forgotten to love one another?
For we are called to love God, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Why would you separate your family, parent from child, lock them away in cages, and deny them soap, blankets, toothpaste, and subject them to isolation? Would you let multinational corporations lie to your children about climate change in order to make a profit? Would you want your children to eat from poisoned earth and breathe in polluted air? Do you wish to see your spouse or grandchildren denied a basic education or entrance to a hospital from an unregulated gunshot wound? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are lying.
Just as we wish to see ourselves and family enjoy basic rights and live a comfortable life, you should also demand to see families across the world, with a different language, complexion, religion, and ideology have basic rights and be comfortable and self sufficient. For when you deny others of love, you are denying God of love. And when you deny God of love, you are denying others of love.
I am tired of compromise, I am tired of seeing people and the earth suffer, to gain votes in the House and Senate to pass. I am tired of seeing rampant corruption in the White House.
I want and will work towards radical and structural change in our society. I am done pleasing others for political favors.
I am done with complicity.
As always,
He Climbs Mountains
